about me

Hi my name is Texas. I am in year 6 and also my class is a year 5 and 6 class. If we do good things good we get green cards into our little envelope, and the yellow card is for being silly a little bid, but the red card is for being really silly and if you get two you have to stay in with Mr Marks.

Coming back to school I never had a boy teacher before. At school some new people came into our class and i think some of them made friends. I like mostly playing on my net book like drawing and playing games.

Hi my name is Texas this is my task from term 1 about me.

Badminton

Last Thursday room14 went to badminton.
At badminton we were playing with Donna. First we started some new skills then we went to pick a space and fold our legs.We started playing and it was very hard, we tried to hit the shuttle and so I said, "I will make it." and I did. I leaned on my back and hit it.

Next Donna showed us how to hit it under our legs and that was cool.  Junior and I kept on dropping the shuttle on the ground.

We played a game with these nets. Evan and David were good at serving and hitting with the racket and  Jayden and I were challenging them. We tried to hit the shuttle up without dropping the shuttle on the ground. I hit the shuttle on the racket 25 times and I had never done that before. So Shayne and I were hitting and twisting our wrist around heaps.
At the end we put our rackets away and the shuttles too. Then we went back to class to have lunch.

Rugby history

A long time ago in the late 1800s the shoe makers killed the pigs to get the bladders from the pigs. They used it to make a rugby ball. Do you know what a pigs bladder is? If you don’t know it is the part of a pig that holds the pig’s pee.After taking the bladder out they would clean it before blowing it up. They blew it up with a part of a pipe.


They used to use these balls to play a game called Bigside. Bigside was a combination of rugby and soccer. You could only get the ball if it was airborne. Also when you grabbed the ball you could not run with it you could only kick it everywhere or kick it under the the cross bar.

William Webb Ellis change the game of Bigside to Rugby. William Webb Ellis started it because he sprinted to the goal line to get a try.

Texas @ Pt England School: Immersion Assembly

As soon as I walked in the hall for our Immersion Assembly I saw Mr J wearing bushy hair that was green, and an orange and white green flag on his back. Suddenly he yelled out "Ireland!!" It was so loud that some of the little kids were scared. Then he said it again and that was even louder.The teachers were all dressed like New Zealand and Australia and many more. We found out that this term we are learning about the Rugby World Cup 2011. The team I go for in the Rugby World Cup is the All Blacks.

I liked team 4 because was they had the best movies. A man called George Nepia who was a former all black had the dream to become an All Black. He managed to live the dream. It was cool that he became an All Black.
