Question: What will happen to the sound if I cut the straw shorter and blow through it?

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that…. the sound will go higher

Materials needed:

straw - scissors

Experiment (procedure):

e.g. Step 1 - Get a straw and scissors  

Step 2 - cut the straw into a triangle shape. Blow air into cut end

Step 3 - listen to the sound it makes

Step 4 - cut the straw shorter

Step 5 - blow on the cut end

Data (What happened?

Straw Length	Sound
15cm	the sound was annoying
10 cm	Sound was very high pitch
5 cm	This was the most high pitch one. This short straw was the annoyest sound.

Observations:   

I first cut off 3 cm  the sound wasn’t loud enough. when I cut the straw up to 7 cm the sound goes. The sound was very squeaky like we watery shoes rubbing to the ground.

Conclusion:

I have noticed the sound went higher every time I cut off 5 cm of straw.

Term 2 Immersion Assembly

Term 2!! Welcome back Point England. Well this year is different because we have a new topic to learn about. I think for the intermediate block our theme is Sound. I like sound because we can listen to music or make instrumental beats.

This morning we had have an team assembly. At the beginning of a new term we have a team assembly which gives the teachers a chance to do something on the stage to show us some of the topic we are learning about. Walking into the hall there were helium balloons attached to the ground and most of the teachers were wearing costumes and headphones on their head. Mr Burt had worn an funky dress which kids thought that he was a clown, but he wasn't a clown.As Mr Burt was talking team 1 was getting ready to go on the stage.

Team 1 had a movie about the zoo, animals was mostly seen in the movie. Team 2 was up on the stage that was performing about planes and we got to watch the song that was playing on the stage. The teachers were doing some funny moments. As we were getting on to team 3 the performance was about lights, colours and speed of light. It was like a rainbow but the teachers wearing costumes.

Team 4 was up on the stage that had diving gear, fishing gear and treats to give away. To get some treats you have to answer a question's.Mr Burt was funny through little rubber balls across the hall. Team 5's turn to perform on the stage, I think this was about sound. It was funny that all the teachers in team 5 had a instrument and making a beat. This morning was a cool entertainment for the beginning of this term.

Term 1 Reflection

Term 1 Reflection 2014

My highlights this term would have to be... Making it into sports like softball. Nearly every year I have been in the softball team. It’s cool going to the tournaments and making it to the champs.

I have made improvements/progress in…….Maths and writing. XtraMaths is an online program that helps with your basic facts and also gives you 3 seconds to answer. I am now down to 2 seconds to answer.

I know this because I have been focussing on improving my maths.

I still need to work hard to improve my reading.

I know this because I haven’t been reading enough lately.

I am most proud of my efforts to behave in class properly.

My 3 main goals for Term 2 will be:

1. Improve in my reading.

2. behaving properly.

3. finishing off work each week.

Fia Fia Reflection

Fia Fia was fantastic!

Well on Wednesday the 9th of April Pt England School had made an concert that's called Fia Fia. There are heaps of culture groups, Singing groups and all sorts. I was surprised to see food stores and drinks, For an refreshment I had a toffee apple and a drink. 

Very soon about 10 minutes we are going to go to get changed and ready. I am in the niuean group that does the haka and different performances. Gelling my hair and putting on my sisi I got to take selfies of my mates & I. There were so much Parents, Adults and kids in the crowd and also my family. 

When It was our group to get up and head to the stage I wasn't confident enough to perform in front of so much people. I was trying and trying to stay focus to the dance but yes I did . My highlight was staying focus and listing to the the coach. This was the most time I got to hang with my mates and eat alot.

Ever sense I came to this school I think this is the third or fourth Fia Fia, I have been in the kapa haka group, Unicycling and the niuen group.

The Five lonely Minions

Once upon a time there were five lonely minions that were very short and never got along with anyone. They lived in Israel In a temple that was dangerous with hidden explosives and dynamite. Their special talent’s were money, Video games and creating games. One of the minion’s were good to girl’s and with others.

Their problem where they lived in a Temple and there were about thousand of minion’s but two years later 95% of them died by traps in the Temple. The reason why the minion’s were sad was because most of the minion’s friends and parents are dead.

The One only minion that was kind to girls and others had met a girl that was lovely, Beautiful and pretty. One day after the funeral the minion got married and lived in the temple until a year later they moved to a mansion. Two years after they had kids. There were about two thousand kids that were born and they brought a mansion for their kids to live in.

What Is Snapchat?

Snapchat Is an app that Is on the play store. This is suitable for  touch  phones, Tablets, Computers and any other device. Snapchat, You have to have a camera to get this app otherwise you can’t get it. Snapchat Is taking a photo and write an message on It. I like that you can send images from around  the world to your friends that you haven’t seen yet, To your family or any one that you know.

For an example If It was my first time to click on snapchat it will show, Login and Sign up. To sign up you will have to add your gmail account and a password to make an account. This is not an offline app if any one is wondering.

You can share to more than ten people around the world, I like sending snaps to my friends when I got nothing to do. I don't know If this app is available for old touch phones, But it is easy to send messages.

You can also draw things on an image, Different colours but not that much
